Vampire Survivors developer Poncle explained the difficulties behind its adaptation, which was originally announced as an animated series but now appears to be a movie, with the title “The game has no plan.”
Poncle said “still working with Story Kitchen on a live action film” in A Embarrassed Answer Although the adaptation will be announced as an animated series in 2023. Regardless, Poncle now admits how difficult it will be to get the movie right, especially since Vampire Survivors is a simple action game about defeating enemies.

“That’s a very difficult triangle to get 100% right. Please remember that the game doesn’t have a plot – right? – so no one can really predict what the movie will be about. That’s part of the thrill. .”

The frustration of this story was not lost on Poncle upon announcing the adaptation, saying, sarcastically, “The most important thing in Vampire Survivors is the story.” It’s unclear how the game will be modified, even with Poncle, so a release date has yet to be announced.
Vampire Survivors is a fast-paced and over-the-top Gothic pool game with brutal elements, where your choices can quickly snowball against hundreds of monsters that throw at you. It became one of the strangest hits of recent years as what was a humble indie launch on Steam took off and snowballed.
Poncle soon added a layer of new content to the game and the core experience now offers 50 playable characters and 80 weapons to play with. That was before two major expansions, not to mention the Ode to Castlevania DLC.
In our 8/10 review, IGN said: “Need a game to play while listening to podcasts? This is it. Vampire Survivors is simple on the outside but becomes an incredibly deep hole to fall into – though it’s not without dull moments. Once you get ahead of its curve.”
